Diwali with Strangers

As Diwali vacations are coming to an end, we are getting back to our regular routines like packing fairy lights back, putting our fancy clothes in the laundry, and planning to eat everyday food from now which has no festive vibe.

You might spend the weekend after this Diwali sitting on your couch and looking at the pictures of your Diwali parties and other festivities. You would promise to cherish all the memories you made during this festive season with your loved ones.

But do you notice that your families and relatives are not the only ones with whom you celebrate your Diwali? The people with whom your festive preparations start also becomes a part of your entire celebration in many ways.

You get your homes painted and call it a new beginning.

You visited your favorite shopping center to buy clothes and asked the salesperson to suggest or look for a suitable outfit for you. That person exchanges a smile with you while you pick up the color of their choice.

You went to buy gifts and sweets at your favorite sweet shop and give directions to the shopkeeper to pack your gift in a certain way. They wrapped it up in the most beautiful manner.

You hassled with picking up the most beautiful-looking diyas and other worshiping materials. Your fingers brushed with the seller while they show you the art of all those handmade goods reflecting the dedication and passion of thousands of handloom artists.

You buy furniture, jewels, home appliances, utensils, and other household items and make even nonliving things as a part of your festivals.

All those smiles and little gestures might not be a part of your picture gallery but in your heart, they will exist forever.
